Saving TikTok videos to your phone sounds simple, but the experience varies quite a bit between iPhone and Android. TikTok's built-in save feature works differently on each platform, and third-party downloaders like SaveReel have their own quirks depending on your device and browser. This guide covers everything device-specific so you can save videos without frustration.

Downloading on iPhone

### Using TikTok's Built-In Save Feature

TikTok lets you save videos directly from the app. Tap the Share button on any video, then tap "Save Video." The video will download to your Photos app with the TikTok watermark. This is the easiest method but gives you a watermarked version.

### Using SaveReel on iPhone

For a watermark-free download:

  1. Copy the TikTok video link (Share → Copy Link)
  2. Open Safari (important: use Safari, not Chrome, for the best download experience on iOS)
  3. Go to savereel.link and paste the link
  4. Tap Download, wait for the video to load, then tap "Download Video"
  5. The video will open in Safari's media player. Tap and hold the video, then select "Save to Photos" or "Save Video"

If "Save to Photos" doesn't appear: Tap the Share button in Safari (the box with an arrow), then scroll down and tap "Save to Files." Save it to your iCloud Drive or On My iPhone, then open the Files app and move it to your Photos using the share sheet.

### iOS 17+ Tip

On iOS 17 and later, Safari has improved download management. When you tap a download link, you may see a download progress indicator in the address bar. Tap it to find your downloaded file, then share it to Photos.

Downloading on Android

### Using TikTok's Built-In Save Feature

Same as iPhone — tap Share, then "Save Video." The video saves to your gallery with a watermark.

### Using SaveReel on Android

Android is generally more flexible than iOS for file downloads:

  1. Copy the TikTok video link
  2. Open Chrome or your preferred browser
  3. Go to savereel.link, paste the link, and tap Download
  4. Tap "Download Video" — Chrome will show a download notification at the bottom of the screen
  5. Once downloaded, the video appears in your Downloads folder and should automatically show up in your Gallery or Photos app

If the video doesn't appear in your gallery: Open your file manager app, navigate to Downloads, find the video file, and tap "Move to Gallery" or share it to your gallery app.

### Samsung Devices

On Samsung phones, downloaded files appear in the My Files app under Downloads. From there, you can move them to the DCIM folder to make them appear in the Gallery app.

Common Issues and Fixes

"This video is not available for download" Some TikTok creators disable downloads on their videos. In this case, even third-party tools can't access the video file. This is a creator's choice and should be respected.

Video downloads but won't play This usually means the file didn't download completely. Try downloading again on a stable Wi-Fi connection. If the issue persists, try a different browser.

Video plays but has no sound Check that your phone isn't in silent mode. Also try playing the video in a dedicated video player app (VLC is free and works on both iOS and Android) rather than the default gallery app.

Download is very slow TikTok video files are typically 10–30 MB, so they should download in seconds on a decent connection. If it's slow, try switching from mobile data to Wi-Fi or vice versa.

Storage Tips

TikTok videos in HD can add up quickly if you save a lot of them. A 30-second 1080p video is roughly 15–25 MB. If you're saving many videos, consider moving them to cloud storage (iCloud, Google Photos, or Google Drive) to free up local storage on your device.
